Congratulating Bangladeshi President on Assumption of Office
Chinese President Jiang Zemin Thursday sent a congratulatory message to new Bangladeshi President Badruddoza Chowdhury upon his assumption of office.
In the message, Jiang said that on behalf of the Chinese government and people, and in his own name, he extends warm congratulations to Chowdhury on his assumption as president of Bangladesh.
Calling for Further Cooperation and Understanding
The Chinese president said that China and Bangladesh are good close neighbors and enjoy a long history of traditional friendship. Over recent years, friendly relations between the two countries have developed smoothly in various fields, Jiang said.
Jiang expressed the belief that through efforts of both sides, mutually beneficial and friendly cooperative relations between the two countries and the two peoples will be further strengthened anddeveloped.
In addition, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Thursday at a regular press conference that China and Bangladesh are good neighbors and with the joint efforts of the two sides, bilateral friendly cooperation would develop further.
