Chinese Premier Meets Pakistani Trade Minister

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met Thursday in Beijing with Abdul Razak Dawood, Pakistani minister for Commerce and Industries.

Zhu reiterated China's ongoing policy of developing friendly relations with Pakistan despite changes in the international situation, stressing that the bilateral ties have been laid on solid historical foundations.

He also appreciated the "fruitful talks" between Dawood and hisChinese counterpart Shi Guangsheng, minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, relating to expansion of bilateral trade andencouraging Chinese enterprises to invest in Pakistan.

Dawood briefed his Chinese host on his ideas for promoting bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
