China/German Relations Furthered

Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao met Monday with Manfred Stolpe, minister-president of Brandenburg, Germany, and his party, telling his guest that the desire to develop friendly relations between China and Germany is deeply rooted among the two peoples.

With a solid basis for further boosting the bilateral relationship, China and Germany have great potential for cooperating more closely with each other, Hu said.

More exchange and cooperation between the two countries will meet basic interests of the two peoples, Hu said, adding he hoped the German delegation's visit would enhance substantial cooperation between the two countries. Stolpe said that Hu's latest visit to Germany laid a good basis for further development of bilateral friendship.

He said that the bilateral ties have maintained good development momentum. The friendship between Germany and China will not only benefit the two countries but also the world as a whole.

He congratulated China on its entry into the World Trade Organization and praised the economic achievements made by the Chinese people in the latest decades.

He said he hoped Brandenburg would develop closer links with the Chinese in fields of economics, culture, science and technology.
