China Urges End of Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

China hopes both Israel and Palestine, Israel in particular, would honor the cease-fire agreement and end armed conflicts in the region at an early date,Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Tuesday in Beijing.

Zhang made the remarks when commenting about a report that the Israeli army used heavy weaponry to attack on the Palestinian autonomous areas, resulting in heavy casualties, and the Palestinian side blamed the Israeli side for stirring up the incident.

Zhang said that China condemned the armed invasion of Israel into the areas under Palestinian control and felt disturbed about the worsening of Israel-Palestine situation.

She said that China hoped both sides, Israel in particular, would earnestly implement the cease-fire agreement and actively collaborate on the international mediating effort so as to end thearmed conflicts as soon as possible.
