China/Bhutan Hold Talks on Border Issue

King of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuck and visiting Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks on bilateral ties last Friday in Thimbu, capital of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Wang Yi, who was in Thimbu at the head of a Chinese delegation to the 15th round of talks on the issue of the China-Bhutan border, conveyed Chinese President Jiang Zemin's greetings to King Wangchuck.

While praising the improvement of Bhutan-China relations over the past few years, Wangchuck said he hoped that the two countries would increase their exchanges in various fields and create sound conditions for an eventual resolution of the border issue.

Chairman of Bhutan's Council of Ministers Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk met with Wang Yi last Thursday. Earlier, Wang and Bhutan's Foreign Minister Lyonpo Jigmi Thinley held the 15th round of talks on the border issue between their two countries.
