Vietnamese Party Chief Visits Shaanxi

Nong Duc Manh, visiting general secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party Central Committee, Sunday arrived at Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Li Jianguo, secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC), briefed Manh on Shaanxi's reform and opening-up and China's western development strategy.

Li said he expects the general secretary's visit to bring closer the economic, trade and technological cooperation between Shaanxi and Vietnam.

Manh thanked Li for the hospitality shown to him and his delegation, and wished Shaanxi would score further achievements in China's western development campaign.

Manh and his group visited the Museum of Terra-Cotta Warriors Sunday afternoon.

Xi'an is the second-leg of Manh's five-day official goodwill visit to China. Dai Bingguo, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, accompanied Manh during Sunday's visit.
