Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met Tuesday with EU Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy and his entourage.
Zhu said that China is about to officially become a member of the World Trade Organization, which was helped by the supportive and cooperative attitude the EU adopted from the beginning.
He expressed the hope that both sides would continue the spirit of negotiation on an equal basis and the practice of mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to promote a friendly cooperative relationship, especially to further the development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Lamy congratulated China on its entry into the WTO and hoped that his visit would further promote EU-China cooperation.
