Greek police intercepted 16.6 kilograms of heroin hidden in the spare tyre of a truck driven by an Albania national, it was reported on Monday.
Vasil Naci, a 49-year-old resident of Sarande, Albania, was caught by customs officers at the Kakavia border post and subsequently arrested, he is due to appear before a public prosecutor in Northern Greek town of Ioannina.
Meanwhile, Greek border guards at Gefyra Kastanis, Ioannina prefecture, confiscated two travel bags containing 19.864 kilograms of cannabis, which they believe were left by Albanian drug smugglers for their Greek accomplices to find. An investigation is being carried out by the police.
