Chinese Premier Arrives in Bangalore

Visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji arrived Bangalore Wednesday afternoon on the final leg of his week-long South Asia tour covering Bangladesh and India.

Capital of South India's Karnataka state, Bangalore is reputed as "India's Silicon Valley" for its booming information technology sector. The Chinese premier is expected to stress the importance of Sino-Indian exchange and cooperation in science and technology during his stay here.

The first Chinese premier to visit India in 11 years, Zhu has visited the capital city of New Delhi and the coastal metropolis of Mumbai since his five-day official visit started on Sunday.
