China, Vietnam Cooperate in Drug Prohibition

The Public Security Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has reached agreement with the Vietnamese Ministry of Police on drug prohibition.

Lu Bing, deputy secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, met with a delegation from the Vietnamese ministry Saturday afternoon.

He said that the governments and peoples of China and Vietnam want to prohibit the trade in and the use of drugs. Although Guangxi has made progress in recent years by establishing 20 "drug-free" cities and counties, a quarter of the total territory, drugs still create problems.

Efforts should be made to stop illegal trade from neighboring countries, since all drugs are from outside China, Lu noted. Therefore, it is of importance to work with its neighbors.
