10th Anniversary of Sino-Armenian Ties Marked

The Chinese and Armenian Leaders on Saturday exchanged their greetings on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between their countries.

In a greeting message to his Armenian counterpart Robert Kocharyan, Chinese President Jiang Zemin said the past ten years have witnessed the stable development of the friendly cooperation between China and Armenia which is based on mutual respect and trust.

Jiang said the two sides have extended understanding and support to each other in maintaining national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The president said to consolidate and further develop the cooperation between the two sides in all fields is in the interests of the peoples of the two nations and conducive to peace and development in the region and in the world as a whole.

In a message to Jiang, Armenian President Kocharyan said the diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, which are based on the high-level political dialogue and mutual trust, have enjoyed sustainable development.

Kocharyan said his country attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China and to the great efforts made by the Chinese government in maintaining world peace and stability.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and his Armenian counterpart Vardan Oskanyan also exchanged greetings on the occasion.
