Luxembourg PM Visits Qinghai and Shanghai

Visiting Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker left Shanghai this morning after he finished his two-day visit to Qinghai and one-day visit to Shanghai.

On April 6, Zhao Leji, governor of Qinghai, met with Juncker and briefed him on the achievements Qinghai has made since China adopted the strategy of developing its western part.

Zhao also welcomed enterprises of Luxembourg to join in the develop-the-west effort.

Juncker spoke highly of China's policy of developing its west, saying this is not only conducive to a balanced development of China, and also beneficial to its neighboring countries in Asia and even the world at large.

On April 7, Juncker flew into Shanghai, China's financial and industrial center, from Xining, capital city of Qinghai.

Mayor of Shanghai Municipality Chen Liangyu met with Jean-Claude Juncker Sunday. After extending his welcome to Juncker, Chen said that economic cooperation and exchanges between Shanghai and Luxembourg had progressed smoothly and cooperation in the financial sector and steel industry would be further improved.

During the meeting, Chen also briefed Juncker and his party on the projects Shanghai carries out in west China.

Juncker expressed his admiration for the rapid economic growth of Shanghai, adding that Luxembourg attached great importance to its relations with the city and hoped to further economic cooperation and trade.
