China, Mauritius Exchange Greetings

The leaders of China and Mauritius on Tuesday exchanged messages of congratulations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

China attaches great importance to developing its traditionally friendly ties with Mauritius, said Chinese President Jiang Zemin in his message to his Mauritian, Karl Auguste Offman.

Ever since China and Mauritius forged diplomatic ties 30 years ago, the two countries have witnessed great development in their the two sides in exploring new areas and ways for cooperation for mutual benefit, said Jiang.

He also expressed willingness to join hands with the Mauritian side in further promoting friendly cooperative ties in various fields for the benefits of the two countries and the two peoples.

For his part, the Mauritian president said that during the past three decades, China and Mauritius have seen their cooperation in various areas fruitful, and bilateral friendly ties further cemented.

Mauritius is glad to see that China has been playing a constructive role in safeguarding world peace and security and that China is dedicated to strengthening ties with developing countries, said the Mauritian leader.

Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji and Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan also sent congratulatory messages to their Mauritian counterparts on the occasion.
