FM Spokesman: China-Pakistan Anti-Terrorism Mechanism Possible

There is no difficulty for the future establishment of China-Pakistan anti-terrorism mechanism if necessary, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan Thursday at a regular press conference.

Mentioning the existing counter-terrorism consultation mechanism between China and India, which is very conducive to the further bilateral understanding and cooperation, Kong said the similar mechanism between China and Pakistan could be established without any difficulty if needed.

China and Pakistan enjoy very good relations, and they have maintained close consultations and cooperation in various fields, he added.

He noted that the Chinese side has noticed the measures taken by Pakistan President Musharraf and the Pakistan government in fighting against terrorism and religious extremists.

These actions have gained popular support from the Pakistan people, and demonstrated the courage and resolution of Musharraf and the Pakistan government in this regard, Kong said, adding that the international community including China has already given full affirmation to these actions.
