1,521 Palestinians Killed, 40,000 Wounded in Intifada

At least 1,521 Palestinians were killed and about 40,000 wounded by Israeli troops since the Palestinian Intifada, or uprising, started more than 19 months ago, said a report published by a Palestinian organization on Sunday.

The reported issued by the Gaza-based Palestinian Center for Peace and Justice, said that the number of Palestinian casualties was from end of September 2000 to the end of April this year.

It said that 3,150 Palestinians suffer from physical disability,adding that at least 10,000 were detained.

According to the report, 9,950 Palestinian houses were destroyedand more than half a million trees uprooted by the Israeli army during the period.

The report, which issued the monthly newsletter under the title "people under occupation", said 540 children, 198 pupils, 230security officers and 70 women were shot on roadblocks, 150 assassinated, 16 members of medical team and 30 schools employees were killed by Jewish settlers.
