China Welcomes Easing of India-Pakistan Tension

China welcomes the recent easing in India-Pakistan tensions and appreciates the positive measures the two countries have taken.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao made the remarks in Beijing on Tuesday while answering questions at a regular press conference.

For the sake of maintaining peace and stability in South Asia, Liu said, China sincerely hoped that the two sides would resume talks as soon as possible and solve all their disputes, including the issue of Kashmir, through dialogue.

Peaceful co-existence between India and Pakistan conforms to the interests of both countries, and was also the common aspiration of the international community, including China, Liu added.
