Traditional Chinese Dance Performed in the Netherlands

The Changzhi Song & Dance Ensemble of Shanxi Province presented a traditional Chinese dance, "Red Fans," at the Raalte 26th International Folkloristic Salland Festival, in the Netherlands.

The 29-member troupe gave 36 goodwill tour performances in Raalte, Enschede and Warffum between June 12 and 30, including the music of Chinese traditional instruments and folk dances.

The Salland Festival was founded in 1977, with the purpose of organizing a folklore festival (Salland Festival) that would promote cultural exchanges. The festivals contribute to understanding and respect among different peoples around the world.

The Salland Festival originated in Raalte, a village in the eastern part of The Netherlands. This year, 23 art troupes from different countries took part in the festival.

During its 20-day visit, the Changzhi troupe also gave performances at primary schools and homes for the elderly.
