Chinese Vice President Condoles on Death of Indian Counterpart

Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao Saturday sent a message of condolence to Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, mourning the death of Indian Vice President Krishan Kant.

In his message Hu praised Kant for his great concern for the friendship between China and India and his contribution to bilateral ties. He asked Vajpayee to convey his deep condolence and sincere sympathy to the family of the deceased.

Kant, who was concurrently chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament, died Saturday after a heart attack, Indian government sources said.
