State Coucil Urges Tightened Market Administration

State Councilor Wu Yi has urged industry and commerce administration departments at various levels to strengthen administration and supervision of the markets, and play a more effective role in regulating the market order.

At a national conference on industry and commerce administration Tuesday, Wu called for further cracking down on the production and circulation of fake and shoddy products, tightening supervision of the quality of products and guarding against unfair market competition.

She also urged a crackdown on pyramid sales, and strengthened control of the advertising market.

In addition, she called for the early drawing up of regulations relating to China's entry into the World Trade Organization, and the launching of a reform of the current registration system for foreign-funded enterprises.

Wu asked the industry and commerce administration departments to improve the quality of their staff members and help build a clean government.
