116-year-old Chinese Woman World's Oldest Person

Chinese woman Du Pinhua, 116, has earned herself a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest person.

A certificate from the Shanghai branch of the Guinness Book of World Records was presented to her Tuesday.

Du was born on April 22, 1886, in Leshan in southwest China's Sichuan province. She still has a quick mind, speaks clearly and has a sense of humor.

Du said she did not eat meat until she reached 110. She neither smokes nor drinks alcohol, but enjoys fruit and vegetables.

Du lives with her children but takes care of her own personal needs like doing up the hair and dressing.

The oldest person on record used to be an American, who died in March this year aged 115.
