Lottery Makes 393 Millionaires

The Beijing Sport Lottery has created 393 millionaires in the last 5 years.

Ren Jun, an official from Beijing Sport Lottery Managing Center says since the computer-controlled sport lottery was launched in 2000, over 130 people have won the 5-million yuan first prize.

Chaoyang district ranks first in the number of lottery winners, while Haidian district ranks second.

Ren contributes the high rate of winning in two districts to the comparatively high number of both ticket-selling spots and buyers.

Ren also adds that 50 percent of ticket-selling income is used for the prize money, while 35 percent is given to charitable causes. The rest of the money is used to manage the lottery.
