Father Tries Suicide to Save Son

A father tried to commit suicide and donate his organs to raise money for his son, who is suffering from leukemia.

Forty-one-year-old, Sun Jing, overdosed in sleeping pills in a hotel in Beijing Monday morning after leaving death notes to medical experts. He said he wanted to donate his organs and use the money for his 14-year-old son's medical treatment.

The hotel staff found Sun in time and immediately sent him to a nearby hospital.

Sun is now in stable condition.

The father and the son are from north China's Shandong Province. According to the son, he wanted to give up medical treatment because of the family's poor financial condition. He came to Beijing just to have a look at Peking University, where he hopes to study.
