China's 2005 Teeth Care Day to Target Pregnant Women

China's Teeth Care Day, which falls on Sept. 20 every year, will target pregnant women this year, announced the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

The theme of this year's Teeth Care Day will be "Oral Health of Pregnant Women."

Teeth care should begin with pregnant women as it may have a bearing on the health of both pregnant women and infants, said the ministry.

Women's teeth become even more sensitive when they are pregnant, so that they should use toothbrush with smaller head and softer hairs. They should brush their teeth in the morning and evening as well as before and after meals.

Pregnant women were also advised to use fluoric toothpaste, have balanced meals, and eat less sweet food and snacks. They should take medicine under doctor's guidance.
