Science Exhibits Open for Holiday

Three free exhibitions, including one that teaches visitors to build a solar-powered clock, will open to the public at Shanghai Science and Technology Museum during the upcoming National Day holiday, organizers announced yesterday.

Among the exhibits are a photo display about the importance of protecting the environment, and a presentation on hydrogen-powered vehicles.

"We want to add more colorful activities for locals during the weeklong holiday," museum curator Pan Zheng said yesterday.

He said the museum will extend its hours from 5:15pm to 6:30pm during the holiday, which runs from October 1 to 7.

"No additional admission is needed for the three exhibitions," he added.

The Zero Carbon City exhibition, which is hosted by the British Consulate General, incorporates a photo exhibition and various interactive activities about environmental protection.

Ten renowned photographers were sent out in different countries to take pictures about the environment and climate change for the display. Visitors will also have opportunity to learn how to make various solar-powered tools, such as a clock or windmill, out of very simple material.General Motors China is helping to set up an exhibit on hydrogen-powered vehicles.
