Good Health Tops Residents' Wish Lists

Good health is the top New Year wish for many Shenzhen residents, a survey by the Shenzhen Daily on the eve of New Year's Day found.

"I want to stop smoking in the new year," said Colin Martin, a drilling engineer, who said he smoked two packs every day. Martin, 55, also plans to play golf three times a week, compared with once a month as he does now.

Roger Zen, 29, from Spain, also said he plans to become more physically active, apart from managing his restaurant in Shekou well.

John Guy, 49, said his big wish was "to lose weight" and to learn more Chinese.

IT engineer Kingston Wong's No. 1 New Year resolution is to do more physical exercise. "I want to cut down my weight to gain an hourglass figure," said Wong, 28. Wong also wished his parents good health.
