Half of Shanghai New Graduates Earn Less than 2,000 Yuan

A report from the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Labor Security shows that the average salary for newly graduates in Shanghai is 2,014 yuan and half of the newly graduates earn less than 2,000 yuan.

The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Labor Security issued the salary guidelines Monday for graduates at a time when these people were busy searching for jobs or signing contracts. The guidelines were based on salary information that covered 30,000 graduates in 2005.

Compared with 2005, proportion of newly graduates with a monthly salary between 1,000-2,000 yuan increased one percentage point this year while graduates with a monthly salary between 2,001-3,000 yuan decreased four percentage points.
