Beijing College Students Present Drama to Commemorate Hugo
Graduates from the Beijing Normal University will present a drama by Victor Hugo on campus tonight in celebration of the 200th birthday of Victor Hugo and the 100th anniversary of Beijing Normal University.

It is the first time Hugo's drama, "Mille Francs de Recompense," is introduced onto the stage of China.

A public performance is scheduled in September, according to the school.

The story reflects the restless social situation of 19th century France. Hugo's expressive and dramatic presentation skills make the drama an ever-praised classic.

It is about a pickpocket who saves a girl's family, which has suffered hardships. The pickpocket needs to be sent to jail, but the family's happy ending shows us that justice is always the winner of all.

The drama is performed by a group of young graduates in their 20s who have received some professional training from the university.

As an event marking the greatness of Hugo in the history of drama and the contribution of the university in introducing various Western dramas to Chinese people, it will be a memorable moment to be remembered and attended.
