Beijingers Get More Income
The per-capita disposable income of urban residents in this national capital reached 12,454 yuan (about US$1,500) last year, up 13.4 percent over the previous year.

According to an annual report of the municipal statistical bureau, the per-capita income of local urbanites last year increased by 47.7 percent over that of 1997.

Last year, local rural residents saw an 11.5 percent increase in their average income, to reach 5880.1 yuan (US$708.4).

Currently, the city does not have any village where villagers earned an average per-capita income of less than 1,500 yuan (US$180), the report says.
