Eleven Police Station Heads Removed for Bad Work

Since the beginning of 2003, 11 police station heads in Beijing have been removed from their posts because of bad performance, sources with the local police administration said Friday.

"Police station heads who receive bad scores have to improve their performance in a certain time, but the 11 police officers failed to show positive change after receiving bad scores," said Ma Zhenchuan, director of Beijing's Public Security Bureau.

In the meantime, the Beijing's Public Security Bureau carried out a campaign to appraise the performance of police stations and police, and selected "ten excellent police stations" and "ten excellent policemen".

Before the end of 2003, the administration also will select the policemen with bad performance and publicize their names to receive the supervision of local residents, a spokesman for the bureau said.
