China to Set Standards for TV Series

China is to set standards for TV series, barring explicit TV dramas.

An official from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television says the related departments have been talking for years about grading TV series. Talks have now advanced to research and development.

He says China will not follow the standards enforced in foreign countries. Pornography will be thoroughly banned.

The official adds the difficulty lies in how to classify programming in a scientific, meticulous and reasonable way.
