The upcoming Ninth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (ELM) will address the issue of terrorism, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhu Bangzao said at a regular press conference in Beijing Tuesday.
As an important international conference, Zhu said, the APEC ELM, scheduled to be held in Shanghai on October 20-21, will "show its concern over terrorism in a proper form".
Zhu noted that the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11 greatly affected the economy of the Asia-Pacific region and the world, which is a major topic of the APEC meetings, and that both the ELM and the preceding 13th Ministerial Meeting will thus express concern over terrorism.
As the host, Zhu said, China is now discussing the detailed forms with other parties, making sure that the meetings will adopt proper forms on the basis of consensus.
