Central China's Hunan Province has opened its largest education resources website at http://www.hnedu.net, offering a platform for development and exchange of local education resources.

By the end of last year, 253,000 computers had been installed in local middle and primary schools and more than 7,000 middle andprimary schools had been linked to the Internet, with 754 opening their own websites.

Some 60 percent of higher-education institutions in Hunan have also launched their own websites.

Some 21 intranet systems and 19 websites have so far been opened by education departments in Hunan.
