State Council Appoints Principal HKSAR Officials

China's State Council appointed new principal officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Aug. 2 according to the Basic Law of the HKSAR and the suggestion and nomination of HKSAR Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa.

Tang Ying-yen was appointed as Financial Secretary of the HKSAR government, and Lee Siu-Kwong as Secretary for Security.

Tsang Chun-wah was appointed as Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, replacing Tang Ying-yen.

Wong Hung-chiu was appointed Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, replacing Lee Siu-Kwong, and was removed from the post of Commissioner of Customs and Excise.
