Carrefour Again to Replenish with Deliveries from Shanghai's Seed, Nut Roasters

Shanghai's top roasted seed and nut producers have resumed delivering supplies to prestigious French retailer Carrefour retailers in major Chinese cities, a source with the Shanghai's Seed and Nut Roasters Association declared.

In June, the Shanghai Seed and Nut Roasters Association, representing 11 major companies with name brands like "Zhenglin", "Ahming" and "Taifeng", which accounts for 85 percent of the roasted seed and nut output of the whole trade, accused Carrefour of imposing extra charges on their supplies. Then the two sides came to the negotiation table for talks.

The talks was not quite successful, however. So the members of the association decided to suspend delivering their supplies to Carrefour from mid-June.

"Afterwards, Carrefour sent individual letters to the relevant companies addressing their concerns with a pledge to consider their suggestions. The ensuing talks went somewhat smoothly, and the association agreed to resume supplying the Carrefour after consulting with its member producers," said Chen Enguo, secretary general of the association, on Tuesday.

The association members' next move is to sign purchasing and marketing contracts with Carrefour for the next year, Chen said.
