Hong Kong pop star William So has donated 100,000 Hong Kong dollars, or about US$12,800, to renovate a school in the central Chinese city of Changsha.

William So will name the school after his mother, Poon Yin-sheung.

He said he hopes he can build a school every year. He plans to name his second school after his father, So Choi, and the third will be named after the star himself.

William So also plans to set up a scholarship program to help more people into education.
