Show Luo Rises Again

Jay Chou thinks he's a unique friend. Jolin Tsai cannot help crying with laughter upon hearing his jokes. Xiao S (Hsu Hsi-Ti) dueted with him on his last album and Da S (Hsu Hsi-Huan) starred in the music video for a song on his latest album. What kind of guy can attract all these people?

He is Show Luo, maybe the hottest star in Taiwan at the moment as his new album Hypnosis Show came out last month. Show has been traveling the mainland to promote it. So Teens, loaded with questions from our dear readers, bombarded Show in an interview.

Dumbledore1989, via email: How did the album get its name?

Show: My inspiration for the name of the album came mainly from the hit song Hypnotize Myself, which is written by my friend Jay Chou. My English name is Show, hence the album's name, Hypnosis Show. I had thought to ask Jay to write a song for me when I first began making this album. But the idea was put off by my father's death. At that time, Jay used to send text messages to comfort and encourage me. One day he called and said briefly: "I wrote a song for you." So here comes the song!

Wang Mengying, from Shaanxi: Last July must have been a very hard time for you. But you managed to get over it and show us your smile again only within three months. How did you do that?

Show: You are right. It was perhaps the saddest moment of my life. My dearest father left me. But he told me a long time ago: "A day can be either happy or sad. People should live happily rather than be stuck in sad things." I know he is out there somewhere, caring about me. I believe he has never left me because I can always feel his support.

Han Shijun, from Jiangxi: How did you feel when you were overweight before?

Show: That was when I was in Junior 2. I love hamburgers, fried chicken steaks and braised pork rice . I became a fat boy who weighed 110kg but was only 1.4 m tall. My fellow students showed their dislike to my face. I was afraid to play with them and they seemed to dislike me even more. Sometimes I even believed I should be hated. I felt very inferior when I was fat. However, during my third year in middle school, I fell in love with basketball. I played from day to night. As I grew, I became a slim and handsome boy. Even now, I would never make fun of fat or ugly people. Every person is different.

Duan Haibo, from Hebei: What do you think is the most important element to your success?

Show: My never-give-in attitude and my fans' support. I will do everything perfectly. If I fail, I'll just keep on trying until I'm satisfied.

Zhao Yisha, from Shanxi: Which one do you like better, being a singer or a host?

Show: Hosting is my job. But I began my career as a singer and my love for music will never die. It's a really hard choice. They are equally important to me.
