Chinese Team Takes Robotics to Japan
One of the two teams representing the University of Science and Technology of China outpaced 32 other university teams nationwide to grab the top honor in the first National University Robot Competition Sunday in Beijing. The competition, organized by CCTV, aims to show ideas and creativity of young students. The winning team will represent China in the Tokyo Robocon competition in August.

'Oil Towns' cooperate in education

China's oil town, Daqing, and Houston of the United States have signed an agreement on educational cooperation. According to the agreement, each city will select a high school to form a pair, which will exchange teachers and students regularly. Located in the southeast of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Daqing is a leading oil and chemical base. It has produced 1.6 billion tons of crude oil over 40 years. Daqing is aiming to upgrade its industrial structure by cultivating new industries such as electronics and building materials.

Beida performances say adieu to campus

Peking University held a variety show last Friday to honor the Class of 2002. Members of that class gave performances of songs they had composed themselves, along with short plays and dance routines, and joined choruses to say goodbye to university life.

Mingri Dongfang Science & Technology Co Ltd, a member of the New Oriental Education Group, sponsored the event. Over 2,000 students graduated at Beida this year.

Thailand's schools lure more Chinese

Thailand's University Affairs Ministry recently expressed pleasure at the large number of Chinese students coming to study at Thai universities. The government is planning higher education roadshows for Kunming and Guangzhou in September to attract even more. Over 2,000 Chinese students are currently studying in Thai universities, with over 1,000 of them at Assumption University in Bangkok.
