Dai Xianglong, former governor of the People's Bank of China, was appointed acting mayor and vice mayor of Tianjin, a major port city to the southeast of Beijing Monday.
Dai was appointed by the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People's Congress to replace Li Shenglin, who resigned from the post of mayor.
