The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Saturday afternoon a press release on the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland.

From 10:00 am June 20 to 10:00 am June 21, the Chinese mainland reported no new diagnosed SARS case, 43 patients recovered and discharged from hospital, and no death. Patients recovered included 42 from Beijing and 1 from Chongqing.

From 10:00 am June 20 to 10:00 am June 21, Guangdong reported 1 new suspected case, and Beijing reported 1 misdiagnosed suspected case.

Now 123 diagnosed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals on the Chinese mainland, including 92 from Beijing, 17 from Tianjin, 4 from Shanxi, 3 each from Liaoning and Guangdong, 2 from Inner Mongolia, and 1 each from Shanghai and Sichuan.

The Chinese mainland reported 23 suspected cases, including 10 from Tianjin, 8 from Inner Mongolia, 2 each from Beijing and Guangdong, and 1 from Liaoning.

According to the statistical standard of the WHO, by 10:00 am June 21, provinces on the Chinese mainland reporting SARS cases within 20 days included Beijing, Liaoning and Sichuan. Beijing had reported no new diagnosed case for 10 days. Liaoning had reported no local transmission and no new diagnosed case for 18 days. Sichuan had reported no local transmission and no new diagnosed case for 15 days.
