Beijing Residents Enjoy Crime-free Living

Many Beijing residents are now living in more secure surroundings, thanks to the efforts of the city's police forces.

The municipal public security bureau revealed in the national capital on Thursday that residents of 318 community compounds led extra safe lives in April, without a single crime occurring there during that month.

Since early April the bureau has allocated police resources and mobilized the public to work together to prevent all types of crimes.

The program was launched in 326 residential communities, which account for 15 percent of all the city's residential compounds.

Apart from the hard work of police and positive public support, the installation of security equipment like alarms, computer networks and digital monitoring facilities, have all contributed to better public security.

Bureau officials said that the crime-prevention drive would be taken to the remaining residential compounds to improve the social environment and raise people's awareness of public security.
