Reel-life Park at Pudong District in Shanghai

Universal Film Paradise, a world-class film amusement park, could reshape Pudong's entertainment landscape in the near future, according an official at the Foreign Affairs Office with the Pudong District government, who said a letter of intent has been signed with the city government.

But a feasibility study remains to be completed regarding the scale of the project and its exact site. It will be made by next June, the official said.

The project is expected to cost several hundred million US dollars.

Universal Studios, an entertainment company in the United States, has for years wished to build the park.

Its best-known amusement park is the Universal Studios Hollywood, the world's largest movie studio and theme park, which combines film, entertainment and tourism.

Universal Film Paradise in Pudong will be built somewhere between the Lujiazui Financial District and the Pudong International Airport.
