An international seminar on protecting highland pastures ended here Saturday in Lhasa, capital of Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

An action plan for highland pasture research was adopted at the seven-day seminar, one of the major events in the United Nation's International Year of Mountains (IYM 2002).

The seminar has attracted more than 100 delegates, including 61 from 18 foreign countries.

With sponsorship from the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development, the seminar focused on the cultivation of highland pastures and the protection of grasslands on the Qinghai- Tibet Plateau, the world's highest plateau.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has the world's largest concentration of plateau grassland, a unique environment and spectacular scenery.
