Summer Clothes Begin a Sale

Attire producers had to offer discounts on summer clothes as the peak sales for summer clothes delayed for two weeks this year, eastday.com reported today.

The long-expecting hot sales for summer clothes have finally come, delaying for two months from previous years, according to the shopping centers in the city's Huaihai Road, Xujiahui and Nanjing Road, Shanghai's shopping mecca.

The growing number of rainy days has cooled the sales of summer clothes. Generally speaking, attire sellers make profit of the summer clothes in May and June, while offer liquidation sales in July and August and the clothes for autumn and winter will come to the market in mid September.

If the hot sales for summer clothes haven't come so far, the summer clothes market will likely suffer a waterloo this year, said an industry analyst.

It is impossible for attire sellers to offer discounts during this period previously, but the delay of the peak season this year made them lose the best period of profit-making, said the analyst.

Compared with other commodities, clothes sales will fluctuate with the season and the delay of hot sales means the sales time for summer clothes would be cut by two weeks, he said. Attire producers had to try best to sell most as they can to make profits by offering discounts.

Consumers can begin to go shopping as more discounts are expected, the analyst said.
