City Plans Auto Fair Next Year

Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, Northeast China, will be the proud hosts of the 3rd China Changchun International Automobile Fair next summer, Zhu Yejing, vice-mayor of Changchun announced at the Auto China 2002 which ended yesterday.

The event, to be held at the Changchun International Conference and Exhibition Centre between July 15-22, 2003, will highlight the theme "Automobile technology and market sharing."

He also said the fair will display new models of cars, automobile parts and components, production and maintenance equipment and test instruments.

The fair will also provide automobile projects for investment and co-operation and will arrange trade talks for auto manufacturers, said the vice-mayor.

Automobile science and technology will be another focus of the fair, with a number of international symposiums on auto technology development, auto industry development in and outside China and China's policies on auto production and consumption.

By hosting the event Changchun's reputation as an "auto city of China" will be further increased. The city boasts a group of auto and parts enterprises that are represented by the First Automotive Works (FAW) and the FAW Volkswagen, besides some auto research and development institutions.

The fair is co-sponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Machinery Industrial Union, China Commercial Federation, China Automobile Industrial Association, China Automobile Industrial Corporation, the provincial government and the city government.
