More Digital Cinemas in China

The number of digital cinemas in China is expected to get more than doubled by the end of the year and reach 100 in year 2003, eastday.com reported today.

There are 13 digital cinemas in China now, located in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Shanghai. The number will rise to 30 by the end of the year.

Shanghai has four digital cinemas -- Paradise, Studio City, Shanghai Film Art Center and the Grand Cinema.

Both domestic and imported films are screened in these cinemas. The recent premieres include Grassland In The Sky and Star War II for this month, Charging Out Amazon and Lifeshow for next month.

Star War II is an imported film, the other three are all films made in China.

Charging Out Amazon had been screened analogically once at the 6th Shanghai International Film Festival, chosen as the opening ceremony film and well received.
