Zhenlong Pagoda in Urumqi of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
The pagoda stands on a reddish hill called Hongshan in the city of Urumqi.

The octagonal, nine-storey, brick pagoda is not very big and cannot be climbed. It has no doors or windows. It was intended as a geornantic omen. The pagoda's lower part is massive and the first three storeys are bulky, then the pagoda tapers off sharply, making it very steady. A huge octagonal top looks as if it were there to keep the whole pagoda in place. The brick eaves are very narrow, indicating the designer took into consideration the strong winds on top of the hill.
