Flower Fair Open in People's Park Had Few Visitors

The flower fair opened yesterday morning in People's Park near People's Square in central downtown has visited by few people, the Shanghai Evening News reported.

A ticket value of 15 yuan per person was found to make many people withdraw.

Many people said they can not understand why they should pay the money to attend a flower fair, when they were prepared to pay for buying flowers there.

The fair, held from yesterday to February 4, was designed as the first flower fair and exhibition to welcome the spring of 2001, and the first one in Shanghai to open at night.

More than 100 varieties of flowers will be displayed in the newly opened park of 2,000 square meters, including some rare species from Japan and other countries.
