Airport Reopened After Power Failure

The Taoxian International Airport in this capital city of northeast China's Liaoning Province has resumed operation at this noon after about six hours close due to power suspension.

The airport, a key flight hub in the region, was forced closed at about 6 a.m. early this morning due to an unexpected power outage.

The heavy fog and the persistent low temperature in the city caused a short circuit in the airport's cable network, making the navigation and computer systems inoperable.

Some 20 scheduled flights have been delayed so far.

Power generators are now working to provide electricity in the airport until the cable network is repaired.
