Black-necked cranes having flown through the winter to the state-level nature reserve in Caohai Lake in Weining County, Guizhou Province, have reached 864 since October 2003, the most since the water level in Caohai Lake was restored in the early 1980s. The black-necked crane is under the second level state protection. (China.org.cn, 17thcongress.org.cn)
