Six high-ranking generals of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) have pledged to support the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China in the armed forces.

The generals, all members of the Central Military Commission, made the remark while discussing Hu Jintao's political report, which was delivered at the start of the Party congress, together with delegates of the armed forces.

Liang Guanglie said the PLA will always obey orders from the Party central leadership, and firmly stick to the principle and mechanism of the absolute leadership of the CPC in the armed forces.

Li Ji'nai said Hu's report gives the PLA new missions and requirements, which clearly guide and direct national defense construction and PLA modernization.

Liao Xilong said the PLA will always strive for equipping officers and soldiers with the latest theoretical fruits, loyally fulfill the historic mission of the PLA at modern times, and conscientiously get prepared for any possible warfare.

Chen Bingde said the PLA will further improve military preparedness to carry out its mission in the new century and strengthen national defense and army building.

Qiao Qingchen said the PLA has to keep up with the CPC in ideology, political awareness and action.

Jing Zhiyuan said the armed forces will more actively push forward effective and pragmatic work and better accomplish the sacred mission entrusted by the Party and the people.
